Slow in the City is an extention of the Slow Lounge concept that grew up in major airports throughout South Africa. It takes the idea of providing a haven within the chaos of airports for business people, and extends it to the city. Here, being busy doesn't mean you have to be rushed. And time well spent is time gained. This is not a place, it's an experience and everything is designed to help extremely busy people make the most of time.

GRID worked with Tonic to deliver a space and time for people who are visiting the city for business reasons. It's an experience that goes beyond an office environment and beyond just a lounge. Inspired by the energy and diversity of the city, the spaces are as varied as the city itself, but all are designed to enhance a particular behaviour. Our wall garden is as relaxing and inspiring as a park. Our light and dark rooms are a sensory experience designed to heighten or focus your sense, depending on your need. Even the art is chosen for the emotion it will evoke.
